Before embarking on the hike to Tavolara, it is essential to prepare properly. Tavolara is an island; to reach it, one must take a nautical means such as a dinghy or boat. Most trekking excursions to Tavolara begin from Cala Finanza. A few minutes' boat ride takes you to Tavolara and its beautiful bay, which offers a view of the island that is nothing short of stunning. The initial path winds its way through the maquis, gradually introducing hikers to the beauty of the area.

Reaching the summit of Tavolara is an extraordinary experience. At about 565 metres above sea level, the summit offers a panoramic view that embraces the entire island and beyond. The feeling of conquest and the surrounding beauty create an unforgettable moment, making the summit of Tavolara one of Sardinia's most precious treasures.

The cost is around 70 to 100 euro.
Companies usually provide everything necessary such as harnesses, helmets, via ferrata kits and all safety equipment. Hiking shoes, clothing and water are the responsibility of the participants.

The route to reach the highest peak of Tavolara, Punta Cannone, is quite challenging. The route starts from the beach and reaches an altitude of 567 metres, crossing rocky areas and very narrow passages near steep walls. The path is steep and characterised by rough terrain, with sections requiring basic climbing practice and the use of fixed ropes to progress.

At the end of the route, hikers face a rock face that must be overcome with the aid of a standard via ferrata. This phase consists of a section of about 80 metres protected by a steel cable, to which hikers secure themselves using a harness and a via ferrata kit.

The duration is approximately Usually you leave early in the morning, around 7 a.m. You arrive at Punta Cannone mid-morning, around 11 a.m. The trek ends around 1 p.m.

We then return to the 'mainland' in the early afternoon by taking ferry Tavolara > Porto San Paolo.

It is possible to trek to Tavolara up to a certain point. To get to the most scenic point from which you can admire the entire gulf, i.e. Punta Cannone, you cannot get there alone. It is essential, or rather, we should say vital, to go there only with expert guides.
