The Blue Flag Program has published the list of beaches with Blue Flag 2022. Among the new locations added in Sardinia is the Municipality of Budoni with Budoni Bay.
The Budoni Beach has therefore received the recognition of the Blue Flag 2022, meeting the requirements for beach cleanliness, the standards required for swimming waters, and the availability of services.

What is the Blue Flag Program?
The International Blue Flag Program is a certification of environmental quality – and not only – for beach destinations.
The project, initially European in scope, now includes 49 countries worldwide and boasts a partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
The criteria evaluated are quite detailed and maintaining the standards is required. Among the requirements to obtain the Blue Flag are:
- the quality of waters with sampling of bathing waters
- the promotion of environmental education programs
- correct environmental management
- the presence of services with a particular focus on safety
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)
Since 1987, the non-governmental and non-profit organization Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) evaluates the characteristics and quality of beaches and ports using specific parameters.
Once the evaluation process is complete, it awards the worthy locations a certification that certifies that the area is managed in a sustainable manner.
The Blue Flag refers to correct land management through the promotion of environmentally friendly activities and enhancement of sustainable tourism.
