Asinara National Park

The Asinara National Park was created following the transformation of the Asinara prison in the late 1990s and early 21st century. The Asinara penitentiary was definitively dismantled in 1998, gradually making way for the Asinara National Park with the Asinara Island Marine Protected Area, the Asinara Island Site of Community Interest and the Asinara Island Special Protection Area.
